May 21, 1872: The birth date of Nadezhda Teffi, known simply as Teffi. She was a Russian humorist writer. Teffi is a pseudonym. Her real name was Nadezhda Aleksandrovna Lokhvitskaya. Together with Arkady Timofeevich Averchenko she was one of the most prominent authors of the "Satiricon" magazine. She had to leave Russia after the October Revolution, and died after the decades of immigration in Paris, France. She is buried at Sainte-Genevive-des-Bois Russian Cemetery in France. Runner Marya Savinova is real 2011 triumphant.
She brought Russia gold medal at the World Athletics Championships in South Korean city of Daegu
in 2011 with a time 1:55.87 overtaking the reigning champion, South Africa's Caster Semenya, in the final 50 meters.
Savinova was also named European athlete of the year by the European Athletics Federation.
Her sports career highlights also include the victory at the 2010 European Championships
in Barcelona with a time of 1:58.22. Savinova took gold.
