Runner Marya Savinova is real 2011 triumphant. She brought Russia gold medal at the World Athletics Championships in South Korean city of Daegu in 2011 with a time 1:55.87 overtaking the reigning champion, South Africa's Caster Semenya, in the final 50 meters. Savinova was also named European athlete of the year by the European Athletics Federation. Her sports career highlights also include the victory at the 2010 European Championships in Barcelona with a time of 1:58.22. Savinova took gold.
Marya Savinova was born in Chelyabinsk on 13 August 1985. She graduated from South Ural State University with the qualification of sports manager. In 2009, she became the European indoor champion in the 800 m and the world indoor champion (also in the 800 m) one year later. Savinova represents Sverdlovsk region in national championships and has been Russia's numerous indoor champion in the 800 m and outdoor champion in 4x800 m. Savinova was awarded a honored master of sports title.
She is married to a short distance runner Aleksei Farnosov who she is trained together in same group with by Vladimir Kazarin.
