May 26, 1883: The Cathedral of Christ the Saviour was consecrated in Moscow on the very day Alexander III was crowned.
The Cathedral was designed as a memorial to the sacrifices of the Russian people in the war of 1812 with Napoleon.
According to Guinness book the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour is the biggest orthodox cathedral in the world.
