May 31, 1998: A 15-year-old Russian female rhythmic gymnast Alina Kabayeva won the European Championships in Portugal. At the time she was the youngest member of the Russian squad. Kabayeva is Russia's most successful rhythmic gymnast to date, and is also one of the most decorated gymnasts in the history of rhythmic gymnastics with 18 World Championship medals, 2 Olympic medals and 25 European Championship medals.

Meanwhile Alina Kabaeva is the only gymnast in the world, inscribed in the Guinness Book of Records as early as 15 years, has become an absolute champion of Europe among adults.
