August 7, 1947: Sofia Rotaru Soviet and Ukrainian pop singer of Moldavian heritage was born. Sofia Rotaru is known for her sex appeal and recognition by the Kiev Patriarchate.

She has been named the Ukrainian Show Queen and the Queen of Pop Music in Russia and countries of the former USSR.

Rotaru has been performing for more than 40 years.

According to the polls, she is the most popular pop artist in Russia.

Her repertoire consists of more than 40 albums and 400 songs recorded in many languages.
