October 8, 1892: old style) Marina Ivanovna Tsvetaeva, a Russian and Soviet female poet and writer was born. Her work was not looked kindly upon by Stalin and the Soviet establishment; her literary rehabilitation only began in the 1960s. Among her themes of Tsvetaeva's creative work; were sexuality, and the tension inherent in private emotions; she bridges the mutually contradictory schools of Acmeism and symbolism. Marina Tsvetaeva had a tragic fate: rejected by the Soviet government, with no means of support she hanged herself in Yelabuga evacuation in 1941.
